Arise Fashion Week Giving a New Hope to African Fashion Ideas and Young Designers

The new sense of fashion can be seen at the Fashion week in Lagos, Nigeria, manifested the world a new range of selection. With celebrated brands collapsing and the world dressing out sweatpants, 2020 has not been stagnate year for fashion. But at Arise fashion week, which was conducted on Saturday, December 12, there were green shoots of hope, said by Naomi Campbell. “There’s certainly a few stars here. I’m very mesmerized. Covid has taken out a lot of creativity in many people.”

Campbell told that she was planning to attend African style showcase virtually but flew to Nigeria last week to take part in it. She wanted to bring awareness to the young designers’ great work. It’s significant on many levels, because Arise provides these young designers a platform to be internationally recognized, to be incorporated by African fashion ideas and fashion weeks around the world, and really to be involved.

In this Covid year, event took place with the socially-distanced format of a talent search. Thirty African designers who are under 30 were selected to show their assortments to a cybernetic audience, with an overall winner chosen by a roster of judges counting American artist Kehinde Wiley and South African known designer David Tlale. The selected included ultra-chic MmusoMaxwell, non-binary sustainable label Lagos Space Programme, and the eventual winner, Kenneth Ize, who exhibited at Paris fashion week for the first time this year. All received $5,000, while Ize was presented $100,000 and an extra blow of publicity in the form of Campbell walking in his show evening.

Mentoring also becomes part of the deal for the winner, said by Campbell. It was principally important as the wider world slowly woke up to Africa fashion ideas creativity and spending power. Thus giving a new hope to young designers to spread the cultural essence of motherland Africa to the world.
